The day before I go and my last day of winter for this year (I say this with confidence). There are many unknowns but they do not dampen the excitement, too much. I am very thankful for all the support and prayers thus far. God has blessed me with wonderful people that He has brought into my life to encourage and pray. The well wishes have been much appreciated. Last Sunday, I was commissioned which was a great confirmation from the congregation.
Ironically sitting in front of the TV does prove to be helpful. Last Saturday the movie Forrest Gump was on and I thought, what the heck, I’ll watch it. Now I’ve been wondering the correct pronunciation of Bayou la Batre and to my surprise the main character (Tom Hanks) is from Alabama and his best friend who he met in the army was from Bayou la Batre and was into shrimping. It was delightful surprise and so in church I was able to share (with confidence of the correct pronunciation) where I am going. It was a humorous moment and I quite enjoyed it.
This week has been one of rest and getting ready for the journey and task ahead. It has been much needed and well enjoyed. Tomorrow I’ll fly, meet new people and see new parts of the world, I’m a tad bit excited.
