Another week, more adventures and stories to tell. That sounds really poetic and better than it really is. We had another good week here in Bayou, the group that came down was much different than the Amish. We had two groups of college students, one from a Mennonite College and one from a private Catholic College. We also hosted a choir Monday night and were able to take in their concert in the evening. However, for those of you who have been on Chorale tour or a traveling music group or something of the like will be able to appreciate this story just a little bit more. This particular group was traveling in a big tour bus. They came in the early afternoon to Bayou and wanting to either sight-see or do something interesting in the afternoon for just a couple hours. Dauphin Island was suggested by a couple people including yours truly. Dauphin Island has some decent beaches that can be enjoyed for free, as well for those that would like to see some of what Katerina did there are many homes that were washed away and many who have rebuilt already very expensive homes. Well we were getting ready to feed 70 people and there is a call to the office, the bus is stuck. I'm thinking, umm there is no snow so how can they be stuck. Well the bus was trying to turn around and got stuck in some sand, the tires were spun and that was the end of that. Also where they were trying to turn around the town had just dug sewage underneath and it was not clearly marked. I was privileged to be part of a "rescue team" that went to pick up the students so that they could make the concert on time. Then later in the week we heard that the bus got stuck again at a gas station, this one I can't figure out but this is one trip that those choir students will not forget shortly.
Yesterday afternoon I had the opportunity to visit two job sites. It was really good to see what is happening instead of just hearing about it at supper and from talking with the crews. I spent a couple hours at one house just helping out although there was not a lot that could be done until a further strategy plan was put into place. This house was over 100 years old and it had termite damage and probably not very many level places in the house. Also the construction 100 years ago was much different than it is today.
Adventures in the kitchen included either under baked pies which I thought were good or good pies which I thought were over baked. I'm thankful for all the supplies and the good food and the donations but these ovens...
This week brought many opputunities to listen to people from many different walks of life and it was a really good learning experience and leaves much to dwell upon. God is teaching me lessons when at times when I don't want to but isn't that often the way it is. I find myself growing attached to the south and even starting to talk with a bit of a drawl or use certain southern phrases.

You'll find as you travel more that you grow attach to each place. I think God has a neat way of doing that in us. Keep learning. God may be teaching you many things to prepare you for Trek.
