I realize that it has been a while since I have written and shared with what has been happening and so I apologize. I have been back here in Bayou for 2 1/2 weeks now. We have been back at work, heading towards the goal of getting people back into their homes. As of June 1 hurricane season officially started and so plans have been made in case of an evacuation. There is an apprehension in the air due to the coming season. Also since it is an election year down here in the states there have been lengths made in order to gain votes and people's confidence. Money has been given to the Katrina affected area but it needs to be used by September 2007. Politics and volunteers are a rather interesting mix. It is interesting to watch this unfold and learn how people are in all situations of life.

This past week we had a wonderful group of young ladies from PA, they had amazing attitudes and were a delight to work with. We hung drywall and mudded all week much to the delight of yours truly. The house we were working on is a larger house by MDS standards and like all the houses here is not square. All in all work was fun this week.

As well this week I have started to realize how hard it is to grieve while away from home and the situation at hand. At times it seems like a lifetime away that my Grandparents have passed away. And yet when I call home or just sit and think it all comes rushing back. This whole experience is a new one and within it there are many new experiences and things to work through. I wish I could put time on hold and just be... But alas that is not to be. The weeks keep coming and so does the work that I have come here to do. New experiences keep coming... may I continue to grow and learn to glean all that I can from every moment.
