Some of the things we have been involved in in the past week. Delhi is now an oven and so we are enjoying places that offer a/c. These past couple weeks in the evenings we have been treated to summer lightening storms. These bring wind which cools the air and pretty awesome lightening strike shows. I can say that because I am from the prairies and these rate pretty good. Also the rain settles the dust. The people that call this place home tell us that it is rare to have a lot of rain before the monsoon season. This year has been weird weather according to the locals.
wind up party on this past This past week marked Mothers Day which is not really celebrated here. We had our BhangraMonday and so we attributed motherhood as many of the women that came are mothers. This week also marks one year since my grandparents pasted away. It sometimes seems that it was just last month. I think this is largely a result of only being home with family such for one month in this past year. Reality sets in when you are around family and there are people missing. So this past week has been one of reflection. As a note the nooma series has a DVD called Mathew which is very powerful for those that are wanting to learn about grieving. It was helpful to watch it this week.
Also I have realized that I will miss Delhi. Crazy that a small town girl will miss this huge city. I will miss India. I'm proud of this. I have been able to see past the unbearable to the beauty and life of India. Past the poverty to the perseverance of the people. There are still things that I will be glad to be rid of. But there will be things that I have fallen in love with that I will miss. I'm almost scared of how this will effect me as the months go by when back in Canada. Once you have experienced something it will forever change you and you always leave part of yourself there or take part of that place with you, maybe both.
We are busy. These next two weeks will fly by. I hope that we do not run out of time to do the things we would like to before we leave, hang out with the people that we have gotten to know. Wrap things up well. Then also getting ready for re-entry and debrief. Oh well, one day at a time.
I'm so thankful God brought me to India... who would of thought.
